Case 16

The ABR of this patient was conducted at 23 months of age.  Note the reversing polarity activity early in the click ABR traces.  The top traces superimpose the rarefaction and condensation runs.  Click on the image to also see the right ear traces.

  • -How would you interpret these findings?

    The patient was seen again at age 2 years 9 months.  Tubes had been inserted the day of the ABR shown above. They have since been extruded. The parents do not have concern about hearing. The patient is not always intelligible and is in speech therapy.  OAE testing was noise contaminated and not helpful.

    • Compare the repeat ABR testing, and indicate its meaning.
