Case 2

L.L. is a 56 year old female.

About a year ago, at the time she had a virus, she first experienced dizziness, which lasted about one day.

For the past 10 months she has experienced brief episodes of dizziness (lasting seconds to a minute) where the room spins around her and/or she is spinning when the room turns.  It causes loss of balance but not falling.  This occurs 5-6 times per week, and is triggered by rolling left when in bed.  It can also occur when lying down, rolling right or looking upward.  Medical history is significant for thyoid problems and mild hypertension, both treated medically.

  • She takes trymetrine for high blood pressure and levothycoxine for hypothyroidism. Do either of these medications need to be discontinued in order for her to have a VNG?
