Case 16

Patient:  J.

Age: 8

Gender: Male

One of the recommendations of a psychoeducational report on J. was that he receive an auditory processing evaluation.  On writing the report on the APE, it is typical to summarize the finding of other tests, such as the psychoeducational report findings and the parent history information that it contains (confirming it, of course).

  • Please open the attached document and read the report and write a paragraph or two summary.

The report is lengthy.  Parts are highlighted by the audiologist who donated the case, Sarah Wakefield, AuD.  The summary tables are also helpful.  If you haven’t read a psychoeducational report before, it will be helpful to give this report a thorough review so that you see the general layout and terms used, which would make it easier for you to scan a similar report if brought to an AP evaluation.

  • When examining the results of APD testing, should you compare them to norms for children of his chronological age or for those of his intellectual age?
