Case 13

Baby boy A was tested in the neonatal intensive care unit.  He was born at 27 weeks gestation, and is now 2 months of age.  If we assume a normal gestational period is 40 weeks, his corrected gestational age is 35 weeks (27 weeks gestational age at birth + 8 weeks post birth). His birth weight was 720 grams. He has received vancomycin and gentamicin.

His suprathreshold click ABR data are shown below.

  • Label the cochlear microhonic and wave I on the individual rarefaction and condensation traces
  • What is the outer limit of wave V and I-V for a child of this age?  (The excel file link is below.)
  • Are these results normal or abnormal?
