Case 12

A.K. is age 15 months, and was extremely prematurely born.  She suffered brain hemorrhage, lung problems, presumed meningitis, hyperbilirubinemia and she has retinopathy of prematurity.  Her mother does not have concerns about her hearing.  She is reportedly negative for a history of otitis media.

She is on a portable ventilator, which made too much noise to permit OAE testing.   Tympanograms were flat. She could not be conditioned to any form of behavioral testing.  Sedated ABR was recommended after ENT evaluation.
