Case A

Age:  10

Gender : F

“Amy” was identified as hearing impaired by a neonatal screening.  She wears mini behind-the-ear hearing aids with an open fit, in the ear receiver, that look similar to this model.

She says that her left ear hurts and reports that her hearing is “bad” in that ear.  She is being tested in an audiology/ENT practice.  The ENT physician’s notes say that the tympanic membrane (TM) is red, and that fluid can be seen behind the TM.  Audiologic evaluation is requested in order to determine the degree and type of hearing loss.
