The patient is a student at the local community college. She has hearing aids that are 1.5 years old, but she does not wear them. They are conventional digital technology, Starkey in-the-ear hearing aids. She reports aural fullness/stuffiness, no otalgia, nor other otologic symptoms nor history.
She is a brain cancer survivor, in remission for 7 years. Her first cancer diagnosis was at age two. She had two surgeries and full body radiation (32 times total). She has been given cisplatin. Until recently, she took Tegretol for seizures but is now off the medication. She suffered hemiplegia as a result of her brain cancer and surgeries.
She scored 20 on the Hearing Handicap Inventory.
