Numerous researchers have shown that click ABR testing lacks frequency specificity – the threshold may reflect hearing at any mid to high frequency – but click threshold testing remains prevalent and was conducted in this case. This testing was conducted with the child then age 2 years 10 months.
As shown, the left ear threshold is 80 dB nHL and the right is 70 dB nHL. Right ear responses are more robust amplitude and the 90 dB response is earlier in right ear than left. Bone conduction click was attempted, there was no response at 70 dB nHL.
Tone burst ABR testing was conducted, with results shown below. (Click on the image twice to see it in full screen mode.) Make a note of the lowest intensity eliciting a response, and what you would predict as threshold of hearing given these results.
