Patient History

Age:                72

Gender:          F

Patient complains of problems with the right ear: pain on touching the ear, tinnitus and aural pressure for the last three weeks. Symptoms are beginning to subside.  She reports that she frequently has aural pressure when changing altitude (she lives in a mountainous area) which lasts about a day.  She does not report any dizziness.

Otoscopy

The right tympanic membrane is obscured with very dark black material that has a hairy appearance.
