Patient History

Age:                77

Gender:          F

This patient has been using hearing aids for about 12 years, and her primary complaint is static in the left aid, which is the newer of the two aids, the older being about 12 years old; the newer, 5 years.  She reports aural itching, no otalgia, nor aural fullness. She has mild tinnitus and no complaints of dizziness.

The left hearing aid is functioning per manufacturer’s specifications, the right is very weak.

Otoscopy

ENT notes slightly retracted TMs that appear thickened with increased opacity.  The right side has a dimeric zone consistent with previous, healed perforation.
