The report describes the left tympanogram, shown below, as follows.
“Immittance results are essentially normal. The only abnormality was a wide tympanometric slope gradient in the left ear. Multicomponent tympanometry indicates that the G component (conductance, related to aural resistance (the frictional component)) inexplicably peaks at about -150 daPa. The meaning of this finding is unclear. It does not appear pathologic. The presence of acoustic reflexes in each ear supports the contention of normal middle ear function. A hearing aid evaluation is scheduled and annual hearing retesting is recommended to monitor the status of the left ear.”
